O’Neill Evolution
Published on January 8, 2008. 11:25
We had good representation at the Evolution this year with Gary Zebrowski, Dan Wakeham, Ulrik Badertscher and Joacim Nyhaugen riding. Ulrik and Joacim both unfortunately took knocks in the pipe qualifying so concentrated on ensuring they passes to get into the party each night, it was big job for them.
Gary and Dan were on top form, they were both leading the pipe highest air session at one point and as you can see from the photo Dan was busting out. Gary looked like he was taking the title with his 4.5m backside air but he was pipped at the post by an Italian rider on his last jump.
The semi’s followed and they were both riding strong with Gary qualifying for the final in first place and Dan unfortunately not managing a complete run (on both runs he ran out of pipe on his last trick and didn’t quite land it, if he had I think he may have been representing also).
Gary was on great form in the final and took 4th place in the end, the comp was won by a long way by Andy Finch who did a stylish and different run and going massive.
The Quarterpipe was a monster this year at a whopping 11m and unfortunately henning was not with us to show everyone how it was done as he is recovering from a tweaked ankle and Gary hurt his foot in the training so in the end we had no riders but the evet was as spectacular as ever with Kim Rune Hansen taking the title with a whopper cock 6.4m heelside rodeo.
It was a great event and the organisers looked after everyone super good.
